AAIA 2022 Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum was Successfully Held in Wuhan University of Science and Technology

On June 11, the unveiling ceremony of the Wuhan Branch of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) and the 2022 Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum was held in the lecture hall of the Qingshan Campus of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Academician Hongxin Wu, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence, Wuhan University of Science and Technology; Academician Xinping Mao, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Professor of University of Science and Technology Beijing; Academician Zidong Wang, the Academician of European Academy of Sciences, the Academician of European Academy of Science and Art, the Academician of International Academy of Systems and Control, the IEEE fellow, and the Professor of Brunel University in London; Professor Zhigang Zeng, the IEEE fellow, the Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars, the winner of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, and the Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Professor Lizhe Wang, the IEEE fellow, the winner Of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, the Leading Talent of “National High-Level Talents Special Support Program”, and the Dean of computer School, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan); Professor Yigang He, the winner Of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars and the Vice Dean of the School of Electrical and Automation, Wuhan University; Professor Xinguo Yu, the Deputy Director of National Digital Learning Engineering and Technology Research Center of Central China Normal University and the Director of Center of Central China Normal University Wollongong Joint Research Institute; Professor Hui Li, the Vice Dean of Industrial Science Research Institute of Wuhan University; Professor Qujiang Lei, the Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association; Professor Hongwei Ni, the President of Wuhan University of Science and Technology; Professor Zhongtao Cai, the Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association; Professor Shiqian Wu, the President of the Wuhan Branch of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association; Professor Fei Yin, the secretary-general of the Wuxi Branch of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and more than 20 experts and scholars, as well as more than 300 teachers and students, attended the meeting in the form of a combination of offline and online.


Professor Qujiang Lei announced the establishment of the Wuhan Branch of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. He pointed out that Wuhan Branch is the first branch officially established by the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association worldwide. Wuhan Branch has the highest preparation efficiency and the fastest construction speed, demonstrating Wuhan's speed!
Qujiang Lei said that the Association would fully support and develop the Wuhan Branch and help Hubei build a strong science and technology province. "It is hoped that Wuhan Branch will absorb and gather more experts, talents, and enterprises to serve Hubei 51020 Industrial Cluster in order to importantly contribute to Hubei's industrial transformation and upgrading, optimizing industrial structure, building a modern industrial system, and building important national economic growth."


Hongwei Ni delivered a welcome speech, expressing heartfelt congratulations on establishing the branch and holding the forum, and extended a warm welcome to all the experts. He pointed out that the summit forum is in line with the development strategy of the Hubei provincial Party committee and government and is of great practical significance. "The school attaches great importance to the development of artificial intelligence, employing Academician Hongxin Wu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as the Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence, and has high-level talents represented by Professor Shiqian Wu, a highly cited scholar in China. I hope all experts will care about and help the School of Artificial Intelligence of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. I wish this forum a complete success!"

Zhenxing Liu, the executive dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, introduced the talent reserve and development of the college. He focused on the scientific research achievements of the college from five aspects: metallurgy, robot, information processing, medical treatment, and stealth materials. "The artificial intelligence school will integrate and cooperate deeply with other disciplines. I also hope that the school will be able to support us and help the construction and development of the School of Artificial Intelligence."

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Jinping Xi has visited Hubei and Wuhan many times, and participated in the deliberation of the Hubei delegation during the National Two Sessions in 2020, giving important instructions and earnest hope for Hubei's economic and social development. The Hubei Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government actively implemented the goal of “building a fulcrum, leading the way, and writing a new chapter” given by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. The committee and the government also aim to build a 51020 modern industrial system, which means five trillion-level pillar industries, ten 500 billion level advantageous industries and twenty 100 billion level characteristic industrial clusters.

The summit forum invited 8 experts and scholars to report, including Hongxin Wu, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Xinping Mao, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The report includes thoughts on artificial intelligence research content, outlook on artificial intelligence engineering scientific research and education, as well as sharing and discussion of vertical fields such as CPS construction of steel enterprises, memory circuits, sustainable urban development, machine learning, big data, and intelligent manufacturing. With the theme of "Gathering Asia-Pacific AI Intelligence and Serving Hubei 51020 Industrial Cluster", the forum aims to focus on artificial intelligence, seek new industrial development, discuss project cooperation, share resource platforms, and serve Hubei 51020 Industrial Cluster. This forum represents the establishment of the Wuhan branch of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. Furthermore, the summit forum had brought more than 50 experts and more than 300 students together in the field of artificial intelligence, which aim to continually promote the various activities of artificial intelligence academic exchanges and technological achievements transformation, under the guidance of the advisory committee.
