He is a Professor and PhD supervisor at South China University of Technology (SCUT) and Adjunct Professor at Chongqing University. He serves as Chair of the IEEE PES Smart Buildings, Loads, and Customer Systems Technical Committee (China), Chairs of several international standard working groups, and Editor-in-Chief of SESR and IEET journals. He promoted to Full Professor of Chongqing University in 1994, and worked for over 20 years in the UK (Royal Society Fellow at Brunel University), Singapore (Research Fellow at National University of Singapore), and the USA (Senior Principal Engineer and Alstom Fellow at Alstom) before returning to China in 2016 as a national distinguished expert at China Southern Power Grid Research Institute. Since 2019, he leads the Integrated Smart Energy System Optimal Operation and Control (ISESOOC) Center at SCUT. He has published over 400 papers, holds more than 30 patents, sole-authored seven books, and received numerous national and international awards, including IEEE Standards Medallion.
